With Urbane Künste Ruhr as a partner, the festival will install mobile playing surfaces in five social institutions under the title UNION. In a joint shelter for asylum seekers, a home for the elderly, a charity department store directed at the socially disenfranchised, a school, and a social-cultural center.
This mobile stage allows the city of Dortmund to become a scene of experience for diversity and brings various residents of the city and those interest in art into dialogue. The invited and produced works thematize and question the developments of urban society in Dortmund and elsewhere.
Here it is decisive, that the performances and artistic actions are of thematic interest not only for the festival audience, but for the direct users of the institution as well. But in terms of content, the performances will not seek to conform to their specific venue, but diametrically oppose them, thus questioning social fixations.
